BringYourPet.com gives Good Grounds for Hotel Pet Fees

Knoxville, TN - July 8, 2004 - Traveling pet owners are thrilled when a great hotel is happy to take in their beloved pet, yet still cringe at the extra pet fees. Surprisingly, paying a little extra in order to bring your pet to a hotel is actually a good thing.

"Some pet owners have expressed concern about having to pay an extra fee when checking into a hotel with their pets, but in the end the extra pet fee is actually beneficial to all traveling pet owners," states BringYourPet.com spokesperson, Brian Bailey." If the hotels are able to spend the time and money necessary to properly clean a room that a pet has occupied, future guests won't complain of pet odor or have a sudden attack of pet allergies. These problems could force hotels to ultimately shut their doors to all pets."

The extra cleaning can often entail special ozone air cleaners that help to keep rooms smelling clean and fresh from pet odors as well as dry cleaning or steam cleaning of upholstery, floors, bedding, and other linens. Pet fees may also go towards the replacement of damaged carpet or furnishings. Higher end hotels go even further in their attempt to keep pet friendly accommodations up to par. Once a pet has left, the hotel may choose to leave a room vacant while it is being cleaned for 24-48 hours so that future guests with allergies or sensitivities to pets may comfortably stay in the room. In this case, guests with pets are also paying for dates that the room must remain unoccupied while it is being cleaned.

Hotel pet fees are standard within the U.S. as well as abroad. According to Arnelle Kendall, Vice President of Public Relations at Red Carnation Hotels, "We charge a minimal pet fee to cover the cleaning of the room and pet pooch scoop bags. There is also a fully refundable deposit to cover the cost of any damages the room may incur." Red Carnation Hotels offers locations in England, South Africa, Switzerland, and the U.S.
