primes Pet Owners on Proper Hotel PETiquette Knoxville,
TN -- June 17, 2004 - In response to the upward trend of traveling pet owners
and their pets staying in pet-friendly hotels, BringYourPet.com has updated their
Web site pet etiquette section to reflect the needs of both hoteliers and pet
owners alike. "Yes,
we have noticed a substantial increase in the number of travelers with pets in
the past year," stated Pamela Wolff, Regional Director of the Vista Host
Hotels. "And we expect to see this upward trend continue." Although
most traveling pets are very well-behaved, pet owners still need to be mindful
of both the hotel staff and other guests when traveling with their furry friends.
After conferring with several hotel managers, Pamela Wolf assisted BringYourPet.com
in compiling a list of pet etiquette tips. First,
always clean up after your pet companion. No one wants to accidentally step in
Fido's surprise! Second, keep your pet on a leash at all times when you are in
the public areas. Although you know Fido couldn't even hurt a fly, others do not.
Third, remember to crate your pets when they are left alone in the hotel room.
If a hotel staff member were to come into your room to clean it and Fido was on
the loose, disaster could ensue. Fourth, try to keep pets out of the breakfast
area; after all, that sausage patty is just too tempting for some to resist! And
fifth, understand that, although hotels love to welcome their four-legged guests,
they usually have to charge a pet fee because it takes more time and different
products to clean a room after they have had a pet guest. More information about
proper traveling pet etiquette can be found at http://www.bringyourpet.com/etiquette.htm.
Pamela Wolff
also added that the number one thing to avoid doing at a hotel when you are with
your pet is "not telling the hotel that there is a pet in the room. For the
health and safety of other guests and our staff, it is essential that we know
there is a pet in a guest room." About
